Election of the Board of Directors

Why you should vote

In Australia, we live in a political democracy and that gives us the right to elect people to public office and choose the candidates that best represent our values, opinions and interests. It's no different within Fitness Australia. To have the Board of Directors that YOU want leading and representing the industry, you need to vote in the online election each year.

The Board is Fitness Australia's linkage to industry members. The Board is responsible for providing strategic leadership of the organisation within a framework of prudent and effective controls and establishing the organisation's vision, mission, values and standards of conduct in the interests of industry members, stakeholders and the communities in which it operates. It has an obligation to fulfill fiduciary responsibilities, guard against undue risk, determine governing policies and program priorities and monitor and assess executive performance.

The Fitness Australia Board of Directors is made up of nine (9) members, five of whom are elected by the industry. Each year, Members of Fitness Australia have the opportunity to elect the industry representatives who nominate to take a leadership role on the Board. Your vote will be cast for those candidates who, in your opinion, best fulfill the mission and vision of Fitness Australia and represent the interests of the fitness industry.

This democratic election process is a unique opportunity for the industry and an important responsibility for all Members of Fitness Australia.

The election poll will open on Monday 22nd August 2011 and close on Wednesday 7th September 2011. So, when asked to vote via the online poll, have your say – take part in the process and cast a vote for your preferred candidate(s).
