Tamworth gym-goers donate food

LOW-INCOME families in Tarnworth will benefit from a large food donation made by Curves Tamworth to the Salvation Army.

The women's gym participated in the 12th annual Curves Food Drive, a nationwide program that asks Curves members to donate

items whenever they go to the gym. New members also contributed to the drive, with no introductory membership fee

required if they donated an environmental bag full of nonperishable food and personal hygiene items to the cause.

A total of 1 64kg of food was collected, with all itemstobedistributed by the Salvation Army.

"The food will go to people who have come to us and need help," Salvation Army Tamworth Lieutenant Stuart Glover said.

"We're always very grateful for donations like this. They enable ourdollarsto go a lot further."
