Industry Continuing Education System under review

In the interests of improving the quality of the continuing education system that is available to the fitness industry, Fitness Australia is currently in the process of commissioning an independent expert review of the existing system.

Continuing education is an effective mechanism for developing and ensuring competence in an occupation or profession over time. The main aim of the review will be to assess the current system and make recommendations for changes that will maximise the effectiveness of the system. This will ultimately create a more beneficial system for both exercise professionals and providers of continuing education courses and programs. It will also enhance the quality of professional practice and help to build the capacity of the industry to achieve optimal industry standards.

A discussion of the draft review process will be undertaken by Fitness Australia's REPs Council in October 2010. Fitness Australia intends to consult widely with relevant stakeholders as this project progresses and we welcome any comments or feedback on the recommendations when they are made available.
